The Human Face of Finance

The Film

A few months back, we threw our weight behind the production of the Hong Kong segment in a beautifully crafted commercial documentary directed by Matthias Lebeer for HSBC. It was a fantastic opportunity to embed ourselves in the fundamental belief that commerce and art can harmoniously coexist. In simple terms, we hold that "video content, whether crafted for external or internal corporate consumption, deserves the finesse of a cinematic touch." For this project, Matthias had strong intent to unveil the genuine human side of financial institutions and capture the essence of travel, a shared passion among the film’s protagonists.

The Mission

Beyond the typical adventures of a field production job, like negotiating access to locations (including securing a beach for the "writing scene" and the Star Ferry), we found ourselves entangled in a challenging quest. Xavier, the DOP with a meticulous eye for his gear, tasked us with locating a highly specific ND filter system. Unfortunately, it proved elusive in Hong Kong, so we settled for a classic matte box. Shooting on the 8K Raptor was exhilarating, and the cinematic results speak for themselves.

Yet, in the realm of film and video production, the canvas extends beyond technology and logistics; it's a vibrant tapestry. In the case of our Hong Kong odyssey, centered on a family, it involved... Arghhh, KIDSSSSS! So, a significant part of our work was wrangling these delightful critters, and truth be told, it was a lot of fun!

The Best Part?

Undoubtedly, the best part was the reunion with Max, the London-based producer, who was among our early clients when we first set out. Teaming up again wasn't just a professional pleasure but a sentimental one. We sincerely hope that we'll have the chance to collaborate again in a few months, not years!
