Living on the Edge with Netflix

Restaurants on the Edge is a restaurant makeover and lifestyle docuseries from Marblemedia and OutEast Entertainment that combines food, design, travel and culture. It will launch its first season on Netflix, streaming to U.S. and international audiences starting February 28, 2020.

The series sees an award-winning interior designer, Karin Bohn, a renowned chef and social media star, Dennis Prescott, and an experienced restaurateur and familiar TV personality, Nick Liberato, looking to transform restaurants that – despite being located literally on the edge, on stunning locations overlooking oceans, mountains and deserts – are struggling to live up to their potential.

The Hong Kong Fixer crew teamed up with Marblemedia who were looking for the best video production partner to produce the Hong Kong episode of the first season. Pre-production and research was exciting as we dove deep into our extensive network and resources so that Karin, Dennis and Nick could find Hong Kong stories to weave the local culture into the express makeover of a tiny cafe-restaurant in Tai O on Lantau Island. On the ground, it was an intensive and super fun production job that required us to be on the edge: connecting with locals, organising complex logistics, making it happen.

Elements were on the edge too, as we had to face the wrath of a big typhoon and battle through heavy rain to make this production a success. But your HK Fixer does not fear water, and was able to mop up all the flip flops, ponchos and umbrellas available in the tiny village to protect a super cool and wet crew. We are excited for you to discover how Karin, Dennis and Nick have found, with a bit of our help, inspiration in Hong Kong local culture for the express makeover of a tiny cafe-restaurant in Tai O on Lantau Island.

Restaurants on the Edge airs in two days, and the Hong Kong episode is the second released in the series. See you on Netflix this February and don’t forget to catch a cameo by our producer David Attali showing Chef Dennis Prescott around Tai O and trying lava hot XO sauce.

Big up to an awesome Toronto crew. It was such a pleasure working with you. Thanks!
