UBS Craftmakers: Guo Pei

The speed of trust: it’s all you need to make your dreams come true.

When Berlin-based agency Zoo once again asked us to partner on a challenging China film and video production project for UBS-one that was also incredibly exciting-we didn’t hesitate to dive in headfirst.

The film, a documentary on legendary Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei, was to be shown at Art Basel 2025 in Hong Kong and came with a directing mandate that felt tailor-made for our director, David Attali-a Mandarin-speaking, passionate student of the creative process. The art piece, Glazed Splendour, a collaboration with Tan Guanhui, master of Guangcai (the unique hand-painted porcelain craft from Guangdong province), was a first that deserved the quality of our ARRI Alexa LF, fitted with an amazing set of Leica lenses. That is what a cinematic documentary creative intention required.

This production was an incredible opportunity for our team to expand our base in China (call us for your China projects-we can help!). And what a privilege it was to meet the amazingly inspiring Guo Pei. We are forever grateful to the masters for their time and grace throughout the project, and to UBS and the amazing support provided by the K11 Craft and Guild Foundation (KCG).
